Well, in my blog, I post the latest job vacancies and career opportunities in Nigeria as well as fun stuffs, career advice, self help stuffs and labor market news, just to spice things up.
Today I'm going to give you an inside view of what it looks like to work in one of the world's biggest tech companies, Google!
Google's corporate headquarters, fondly nicknamed the Googleplex(a combination of the words Google and complex), is located in Mountain View, California.
Though Google has grown a lot since it opened in 1998, they still maintain a small company feel. At lunchtime, almost everyone eats in the office café, sitting at whatever table has an opening and enjoying conversations with Googlers(Google employees) from different teams at any level. Google's commitment to innovation depends on everyone being comfortable sharing ideas and opinions.
Every employee is a hands-on contributor. Google believes that each Googler is an equally important part of the company's success, no one hesitates to pose questions directly to Larry or Sergey(The Co-founders) in their weekly all-hands ("TGIF") meetings – or spike a volleyball across the net at a corporate officer. Wow!, what a fun place to be.
Google is also aggressively inclusive in their hiring, and favors ability over experience. Google has offices all around the world and dozens of languages are spoken by Googlers, from Turkish to Telugu, name it. The result is a team that reflects the global audience Google serves. When not at work, Googlers pursue interests from cross-country cycling to wine tasting, from flying to frisbee, even hide and seek.
Google has always been known for being a leader in fun offices with plenty of perks for employees — and the photos below don’t disabuse that notion. Included are shots of plenty of places to relax and get done away from your cubicle, including outdoor seating and comfortable couches.
The search giant clearly uses its office to lure in potential employees, and it’s easy to see why. Check out the gallery of images below, and tell me what you most like about the Googleplex.
